Mexico: World's second largest silver producer.
Great website. Since I have some stocks in the silver market I wanted share an article published by infomine.com
Mexico is the world's second largest silver producer. Silver is produced both as primary silver and as a by-product of gold and base metal operations. In 2007, Mexican silver mine production accounted for 99.2 million ounces (3,085 t), an increase over the previous year.
The major production states are Zacatecas, Durango, Chihuahua, Guanahuato and Queretaro.
In 2007, the Penoles' Proano (Fresnillo) mine in Zacatecas ranked as the world's second largest primary silver mine (33.52 Moz Ag) and at the same time the world's richest. Other important mines are Tayahua (9th place - 4.0 Moz Ag), La Colorada (10th place - 3.96 Moz Ag) and Tizapa (3.958 Moz Ag) of Mexico state. The main silver producing companies are Industrias Penoles (world's second largest producer - 44.5 Moz), and Grupo Mexico.
I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post links to other websites. Here it goes. http://www.infomine.com/countries/SOIR/mexico/welcome.asp?i=mexico-soir-3
